Important - Change of Dates!!

Due to Manchester United's involvement in various crucial end of season fixtures we are flexing our own arrangements to ensure as many of you as possible can get to the End of Season Night.  Following some debate on the Message Board the revised arrangements are as follows:

  • End of Season Night - Wednesday May 16th 8.15pm at the Albert Club

  • The Results

Val Draper Cup (Final) - Tuesday May 1st - at the Albert Club

Napier Girls stormed home by 33 points in a one-sided final against last year's cup winners, the Electric Pigs

Plate (Final) - Thursday May 3rd - at the Albert Club

2 FCEKs surged ahead in the first 2 rounds and never looked back against the Opsimaths

Well done to the Girls and 2FCEKs for lifting all the trophies this time around.

    The Paper

The History Men set for the 2 Finals.  Ivor shouldered the bulk of the burden - in terms of the setting and then turning up to act as QM at the Club on both Tuesday and Thursday.  We are very grateful.  As ever he was most gracious even when the Opsimaths got a bit uppity about the balance of the questions on the first 2/3 rounds (we were 18-3 down after 2 rounds).

On reflection I think much of this gap was attributable to the fact that we didn't know the answers and 2FCEKs did!!

I thought the themed rounds (Rounds 3 & 7) were well executed and I particularly liked the gobbets of poetry in Round 7:

"The woods are lovely dark and deep/But I have promises to keep/And miles to go before I sleep/And miles to go before I sleep."

....and so saying at 1am on a Friday morning at the end of another most enjoyable quiz season.  I just hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.  See you on May 16th.
